Robbie Allan Enters Dakar 2007
Dec-2006

Dakar, Jan 07   Vic Allans brother Robbie has entered the Dakar aboard a CRF450 Honda, any news as to his preparation and eventual race will be posted here, or during the race you can log on to www.dakar.com for all the up to the minute info. Vic and his family are travelling to Lisbon to see Robbie take on the European stages before he heads off to Africa, There is still time to dust off your bike and prepare if you fancy following the rally..believe me it's a great trip and better than freezing yer nuts off in the UK during January. Robbie's race number is 129

7th January...2200hrs Just had a call from Vic Allan to let us know that Robbie is now on the ship en-route to North Africa, he finished todays 2nd stage in 164th position giving an overall position of 190th out of some 242 starters in the bike classes, apart from a minor problem loading the roadbook alls well. another KDMCC interest in the rally is prospective new member Bernie Wright who 'spannered' for Nick Plumb in 2006 is this year 'looking after' No 145 Patricia Watson-Miller and No 179 Werner Pfeuffer.

11th January....At the end of the 6th stage of the rally Robbie is lying in 166th place, and at the age of 65 has now got further than the 'Race to Dakar' 2006 rider Charly Boorman...... Both the riders being looked after by Bernie Wright are also doing well, with Werner Pfeuffer in 104th place and Patricia Watson-Miller in 122nd............ I understand that some Dutch riders Robbie has been riding with have become confused, as they were hoping that English would have been a common language between them!....... Eurosport commentators have a problem in that they don't seem to be able to mention Robbie without bringing it to everyones attention that he is the brother of Ex Motocross champion Vic, all this publicity for Vic whilst he sits at home with his feet up and Robbie's out in Africa enduring long days of 'dune bashing'.

12th January Robbie has unfortunately gone out of the rally on stage 7, a combination of dust and heat as affected Robbies asthma condition

21st January The news on the 2 riders that Bernie Wright was 'spannering' for is that Werner Pfeuffer went out with a shoulder injury but Patricia Watson-Miller was 3rd in the ladies class
